Convert weight without a price feed

This tool converts only grams, kilograms and troy ounces. One troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams; one kilogram is 1,000 grams. Therefore 100 grams / 31.1034768 ≈ 3.2150746569 troy ounces. No price, purity or resale value is included. A successful conversion does not establish that a quote source is available: weight conversion needs no live market data.

Troy ounces and ordinary ounces differ

An ordinary avoirdupois ounce is approximately 28.3495 grams. It is not the unit used for precious-metal spot quotations. Check what the oz designation means in the product documentation. Treating a one-troy-ounce bar as 28.3495 grams understates its quantity. Convert per-kilo and per-gram quotes to a shared unit before comparing prices.

Apply fineness as a separate step

A ten-gram 18-karat item still has a gross weight of ten grams; its fine gold content is 10 × 18 / 24 = 7.5 grams. The weight converter does not make that purity adjustment. Select fineness in holdings valuation, and do not apply it again if documentation already states fine weight. Display rounding is not evidence of measurement precision or product authenticity.

Calculation steps and checks
  1. Grams to troy ounces

    31.1034768 / 31.1034768 = 1.

  2. Kilograms to grams

    1 kg = 1,000 g; 1,000 / 31.1034768 ≈ 32.1507466 troy ounces.

  3. Separate weight from value

This conversion changes only the weight unit. A valuation also needs purity and a price stated in the matching unit.

Before using the result

  • An ordinary ounce and a troy ounce are different units.
  • Gross product weight may differ from fine-metal content.
  • Check whether a price is per gram, kilogram or troy ounce before converting it.
