Which calculation should I choose?

What do you need to calculate?

Holdings value, purchase budget and net resale proceeds require different calculations. Choose your question first, then check the unit, fineness and quote direction. Tools using a market reference and tools requiring your actual dealer offer answer different questions.

  • What is the theoretical value of what I hold? Use holdings value.
  • How much must I sell to reach a cash target? Use the cash target planner.
  • Which quote has the lower complete cost? Use dealer comparison.
  • What resale price recovers the modelled cost? Use break-even.

Compare quotes in the same currency for the same product and quantity. The dealer bid determines what you receive; the ask determines what you pay. Enter commission and fixed fees separately. If a bid already prices your actual item, do not apply fineness twice. These tools do not execute trades or predict future prices.

Choose a calculator by question

Start with the question you need to answer. Tools using a spot reference value fine-metal content; an actual transaction result requires a matched dealer bid or ask for the same product and time.

Example: from a displayed price to a decision

For a ten-gram .995 gold item, holdings valuation first identifies 9.95 fine grams. For resale, do not treat that theoretical value as a dealer offer; use the item-specific bid and total charges. Compare two or three offers for the same quantity and currency, then use the selected bid in the cash-target calculator when you need a specific net amount.

Three input mistakes that distort results

The calculators do not execute trades, authenticate fineness or forecast prices. Every result depends on the units, quotes and fees entered.
