Value gold and silver together

Enter up to four holdings with different units and purities. The total is the spot reference for fine metal content, not a resale offer.

How the calculation adds up

Each row converts quantity into grams, then multiplies by purity and the relevant metal price per gram. Gold and silver values are added in the same currency. For example, 10 grams of 18-karat gold contains 7.5 grams of fine gold; 1 kilogram of 999 silver contains 999 grams of fine silver.

Leave unused rows at zero. A full total is withheld when any required metal quote is missing or delayed. Allocation percentages describe this basket only and are not a portfolio recommendation. Deleting saved data removes only this site’s basket record.

Combine metals in a shared currency

Suppose a basket contains ten grams of .995 gold and 100 grams of .925 silver. Fine contents are 9.95 gold grams and 92.5 silver grams. At illustrative fine-gram references of 100 for gold and 1 for silver, the components are 995 and 92.50, totaling 1,087.50. These are method examples, not current quotations.

Value share is not weight share

Gold’s value share in that example is approximately 91.49%. This does not mean 91.49% of the basket’s weight is gold. Value shares come from references in the selected currency, while each quantity retains its own unit. Check metal, weight unit and fineness separately for each item. Recording the same product once by gross weight and once by fine weight double counts it.

Understand storage and quote limits

Save stores item details only in this browser; it does not synchronize them to other devices. Deleting the saved record or clearing browser data removes it. The basket is neither a bank account nor an acquisition-cost ledger. If an active metal has no fresh quote, a reliable total is withheld. Actual product bids and resale fees can differ from the combined fine-metal reference.

ACTUAL PRODUCT QUOTES

Coin, bar and jewelry purchase basket

Enter the complete dealer ask per item for coins, bars, jewelry or other products. Purity is not applied again: costs use actual product quotes. Do not add workmanship twice if it is already included in the quote.

Compare like-for-like quotes

Each row uses item count × complete ask per item. Check fineness, weight, coin type, year, delivery terms and quote time. If a quote is for one complete 20-gram bracelet, enter that complete price; do not multiply it by 20 again. One bracelet is one item.

Example: 2 items × 1,000 USD plus 1 item × 2,000 USD produce a subtotal of 4,000 USD. An additional 50 USD delivery fee makes the total 4,050 USD. A budget of 4,500 USD leaves 450 USD. These are hypothetical amounts, not current prices.

The purchase basket uses actual product asks; the holdings basket above uses the spot reference for fine-metal content. They measure different values. This tool does not place orders or send inputs to a server. Changing currency clears prices, fees and budget; there is no automatic currency conversion.
