Break-even dealer bid = (total purchase cost + resale fee) / quantity. Assumes the same product, quantity and fixed fees. This threshold is not a spot price forecast.
—Enter at least two valid quotes to compare.
Purchase = quantity × dealer ask + total purchase fee. Resale = quantity × dealer bid − total resale fee. Quotes can differ in timing and execution conditions.
A lower unit price is not always cheaper
Example: for 10 grams, quote A asks 100 per gram plus a total fee of 30. Quote B asks 102 with no fee. A costs 1,030 and B costs 1,020, so B costs 10 less despite its higher unit price. These are worked examples, not current prices.
Match purity, net weight, physical delivery, taxes and quote timestamps. Include omitted taxes or delivery charges in total fees. The spot comparison appears only with a fresh reference; a spot value converted with daily FX is not a live local offer.
For ten identical items, suppose dealer A asks 100, bids 98 and charges 5 for buying and 5 for selling. Dealer B asks 99, bids 97 and charges a purchase fee of 20 with no resale fee. A’s total purchase cost is 1,005; B’s is 1,010. B is more expensive overall despite its lower unit ask. These are illustrative amounts in one currency.
Net resale and break-even
Net proceeds are 975 at A and 970 at B. The fee-inclusive break-even bid is 101 at both dealers in this example. Equal break-even thresholds do not make the current quotes equivalent. Best purchase cost and best net resale are separate comparisons; without at least two valid offers the tool does not declare a comparison winner.
Enter total fees for the quantity
Fee fields represent total charges for the entered quantity. If a dealer charges a percentage, calculate its currency amount for that side of the transaction first. Do not enter a per-item charge as the whole transaction fee. An item-specific bid already incorporates product fineness; the purity input supports the spot-content comparison. Settlement time, delivery, authentication and acceptance terms still need checking separately.
