From gross weight to fine content
10 g × 0.995 = 9.95 g
This is a content example assuming the stated fineness is correct. Stones, fillers and non-metal components are excluded from the calculation weight. It is not an assay or a live quotation.

A bar, coin and jewellery item can carry different terms. Record the item, fineness, weight and count together. A premium paid for a packaged product may not be recovered in a buyback quote.
For resale, use the dealer’s bid. Multiply the matched quantity by that bid and subtract percentage charges and fixed fees for net proceeds. Confirm the quote’s validity period and whether partial sales are accepted.

This values metal content, not a product buy or sell quote. A delayed source also means a delayed table reference.
Documented fineness can differ from a theoretical karat fraction: 585 is exactly 58.5%, while 14/24 is approximately 58.3333%.
Multiply the fine-gram reference by ten for the theoretical value of ten grams of fine gold. A ten-gram item described as 995 fine contains a theoretical 9.95 fine grams. A packaged product can include fabrication and a premium. For resale proceeds use the dealer’s bid for the actual item.
No. A fine-metal gram reference and a gross gram of jewellery do not describe the same fine content. An illustrative twelve-gram 22k item has theoretical fine content of 12 × 22/24 = eleven grams. Exclude unrelated components. Do not apply that ratio again if the actual product bid already accounts for fineness.
Not without quantity and fees. For a purchase compare product cost plus percentage and fixed charges. For a sale compare net proceeds; the dealer’s ask does not show what you will receive. Request quotes for the same product and amount.

Read the guideA per-gram value is the same-currency troy-ounce reference divided by 31.1034768. The displayed value refers to fine metal. Multiplying it by gross weight without applying purity can overstate the contained metal value. Keep packaging, stones and other non-metal components separate from the holding’s net metal weight.
The following figures are a worked example, not current prices. Illustrative USD/troy-ounce reference: 3,100. 10 grams × 0.995 = 9.95 grams of fine gold. Illustrative metal value: 991.6898 USD.
This value is neither a dealer’s ask nor your net resale proceeds. Enter actual bid and ask quotes in the same unit and add total fees separately. Quotes taken at different times can also differ from a calculated reference. When changing currency in the calculator, remember that FX is a daily reference.
Fabrication, minting, branding and packaging can add to a product’s price. Paying a premium does not establish that it will be recovered on resale. Compare fine content and total transaction cost rather than gross grams alone. Use the dealer ask when purchasing and the dealer bid when reselling.
