This page calculates the theoretical gold content of a net gram of 22k alloy using 22/24. A fineness on an item’s documentation may use a more specific number. A jewellery weight and a bullion coin’s stated fine weight are different inputs: do not apply 22/24 to a coin specification that already states one fine troy ounce.
Fine-metal formula
Quantity × 1 g × 0.9166666666666666 × fine-gram reference
Fine-gram reference = USD/troy ounce ÷ 31.1034768 × daily reference FX. Fineness is never applied twice.
Alloy weight versus fine weight
For jewellery the calculation starts with net alloy weight and a fineness fraction. For some bullion coins, the official denomination already states pure-metal content. Those fine weights require no second purity deduction.
Allow for item-specific terms
Finished jewellery, assessed scrap and bullion do not share one executable per-gram price. Match the item, condition, weight definition and quote direction before comparing a premium or deduction.
