Australian dollars beside a USD chart
This page shows an AUD conversion of a USD spot reference. The optional chart remains labelled USD per troy ounce and can use a different price feed. A change in the chart is therefore only one part of a change in an Australian-dollar reference. Keep AUD and USD distinct when a product listing displays a dollar sign, and use the source time to identify how recent each comparison actually is.
Bullion and collector versions
The Perth Mint specifies its 2026 one-ounce Australian Kangaroo gold bullion coin as 99.99% pure gold. Compare the exact bullion size and finish with the actual offer. A similarly named collector coin can have different packaging, issue conditions and pricing. Theoretical metal content does not measure a collectible premium. If your holding is already described in fine ounces, enter fine content rather than applying purity twice.
Worked currency conversion
This example assumes gold at USD 3,100 per troy ounce and a conversion of 1 USD = 1.5 AUD. These are illustrative inputs, not current prices or exchange rates. The fine-gram result is 3,100 × 1.5 / 31.1034768 = 149.501 AUD. Multiply by fine grams to value a holding; add actual fees to compare a purchase.
Before comparing an offer
- Confirm the currency code and whether the quote is per gram, troy ounce or kilogram.
- Establish whether quantity describes gross weight or fine-metal content.
- Request the dealer’s buy and sell quotes separately, including delivery and total fees.
- Match timestamps; daily FX conversions and a live USD chart can describe different observations.
